Anshuman Rath presents the most unusual profile on our SMAT Watch list. His projected WAR/M of 0.46 for 2026 is the highest among all our SMAT Watch batters. Yet his SMAT strike rate of 100 would be disqualifying for any normal domestic prospect. The explanation lies entirely in his data split.

His career profile draws 100% from T20I cricket, with a negligible 0% from SMAT. He has played 8 T20 seasons at the international level. The SMAT sample is tiny: just 2 innings, 63 runs off 63 balls. That 100 SR comes from a sample too small to carry any predictive weight.

The high projection comes entirely from his T20I body of work. The model trusts international data heavily, and Rath has enough of it to generate a current WAR/M of 0.58. The declining trajectory flag means recent form has slipped from that peak, pulling the projection down to 0.46.

At medium confidence, the model is saying: if Rath's international quality holds, he is IPL-caliber. But the SMAT data provides no domestic supporting evidence. Two innings cannot distinguish between a slow starter adjusting to conditions and a player whose T20I skills do not translate to the Indian domestic circuit.

His SMAT average of 32 across 2 innings is fine but statistically meaningless at this volume.

For IPL franchises, Rath is a known international quantity who has never established an IPL foothold. His value proposition depends entirely on whether teams believe the T20I track record translates to franchise cricket. The SMAT data cannot confirm or deny that hypothesis.
